About

Beyond engineering, Douglas Kuluk is a passionate advocate for climate adaptation and infrastructure innovation in the Arctic. He lectures at the University of Manitoba and presents at international conferences, emphasizing the urgent need to reimagine ice-road systems in the face of climate change. His pioneering work on modular floating roadways and hybrid winter–summer supply routes is shaping the future of northern transportation. When he’s not in the field, Douglas can be found fishing along the Nelson River, photographing the northern lights, or mentoring young engineers eager to contribute to Canada’s North. His career reflects resilience, ingenuity, and deep respect for fragile northern landscapes, blending cultural wisdom with technical excellence to build infrastructure that connects and sustains communities.
